A Guide Book From Our Faculty Member to Parents: “Raising Organic Children In The Digital World”
Mental and biological health of new generations is very important in the future of a society or culture. It becomes easier to manage if the generations are unhealthy or as human beings move away from morals, values and feelings. Minds go digital and bodies robotize. Here is the book "Raising Organic Children in the Digital World", edited by our faculty member and cyberpsychologist Assoc. Prof. Selim Günüç, took its place on the shelves recently. Günüç both edited the book and wrote some chapters in the book. The main purpose of writing the book is to support parents in raising children healthily (organically). For this reason, the content of the book is based on two pillars: The first is the normal and healthy development processes of the children, and the second is how the development of the children is affected by the digital world and what should be paid attention not to be negatively affected. Although the benefits of technology are mentioned in the book, especially the negative effects, risks and harms of technology on children are focused on. Because in order for healthy generations to be raised and the necessary benefits to be provided from technology, it is first necessary to be protected from the risks and threats of technology. In this context, psychiatrists, psychologists, child development specialists and education experts wrote sections in the book. Although the book has been written specifically for parents, it is a bedside resource for family counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, child development specialists, educational experts, researchers and university students studying in related departments.
